Army Surplus Warehouse About Us
Army Surplus Warehouse, Inc. began in 1977 in Butte, Montana by Dana and Cheryl Collins. When not working our regular jobs we would sell out of an old house we bought. We made displays, with what merchandise we had, in the kitchen and living area. After some time went by, we thought we had enough goods to actually open a store. It was a lot of hard work and long hours but we enjoyed the challenge and working on our own. In 1981 we opened a store located in Idaho Falls, Idaho. We rented an old lava rock building that had walls 3 feet thick! The building had two floors and was 56,000 sq. feet. Over time we filled it with surplus but we then needed a place to warehouse our goods. We purchased an old sugar beet factory that we still use today.
In the year 2000 we bought land and built a new store. It was wonderful! We had heat, water, good lighting, and even an office! Can life get any better than this!
Our three children, Jake, Sara and Amber started working with us when they were quite young. Around 1995 or 96 they started selling goods via the internet. They have carved a niche for themselves and continue the hard work required to maintain and grow.
