The G2 is a great platform to make the ultimate "go bag." It is relatively compact, yet capable of internally storing an M-16/M-4/AR type weapon, water, ammo, and survival gear. Once in the field, the pack has good capacity, but has the added benefit of being really easy to lash additional gear to, simply by cranking on an external load with its built-in compression straps. The top pocket assembly features a handy internal organizer, with several small pockets, pen holders, and a padded pocket which serves equally well for AR mags or for a PDA. It has a slightly larger scabbard, to better accommodate weapons with larger cross-sections or bulky optics. The scabbard is wide at the bottom, giving the option of carrying weapons butt-down or butt-up. The main bag is the same size as the GS05M, so capacity is about the same. Like the Operator, it has both front loading and top loading features, giving exceptional accessibility and loading flexibility. Hydration sleeves on the back wall, semi-transparent tuck pockets, and Padlock (PALS) webbing fit out the interior. The pack also includes the GSTC Butt Cover, with pull-out sleeve. This allows you to fully enclose a rifle up to 60" long. The scabbard on the G2 folds into the bottom of the pack and is secured by a buckle. This configuration is good for shorter weapons and other gear; it's also a great place to carry a laptop computer. The GS05M Gunslinger is a 2700 cubic inch pack, with extraordinary features that set it apart from any other mid-size pack. The Halftrack pack is similar to our G3M Phantom sniper pack; it's built from the same pattern as the Phantom's main pack. It's a front-loader, with two levels of varying-sized tuck-pockets lining its interior, Padlock system racks inside and out, and a fold-down shelf that can be used to divide the main compartment into upper and lower chambers. It will carry two 3-liter hydration kits, mounted in side pockets, or two 2-liter bladders in side-sleeves if you want to keep the main side pockets free for other gear. The waistbelt features a 6 x 2 Padlock matrix on each side. Sidewall tunnels allow carriage of long items such as skis or poles to be suspended from internal D-rings.
